About this study
The Condition & The Study
Asthma affects each person differently. Research studies help investigators understand how potential treatments may affect symptoms, breathing, and asthma control.
What Participation May Include :
- Lung function and breathing assessments
- Review of symptoms, triggers, and current medications
- Study visits, questionnaires, and symptom tracking
About this area
Marco Island
Marco Island is a barrier-island community with a high share of seasonal residents and retirees, and only one causeway connecting it to the mainland. Island participants usually plan study visits around the Jolley Bridge and combine them with other mainland errands.
Getting to our office
Leave the island north on Collier Boulevard (SR-951) across the Jolley Bridge, continue to I-75 north, then take Exit 136 (Colonial Boulevard) west across the Midpoint Memorial Bridge to Veterans Parkway and north on Chiquita Boulevard S.
Local information
- Landmarks along the way: Marco Island Executive Airport, Tigertail Beach Road and the Collier Boulevard shopping corridor before the bridge.
- Island referrals skew heavily to adults over 65, with cardiovascular, COPD and osteoarthritis screenings the most requested.
- Allow about one hour and 15 minutes; SR-951 is the single mainland route, so a bridge delay affects the whole trip.
- We schedule Marco Island visits mid-morning to clear bridge traffic, and longer visits are booked back to back so one crossing covers the full day.
