About this area
Tampa
Tampa is the largest city we serve, with a diverse population and neighborhoods where access to specialty care differs widely between the bayfront and inland areas. Tampa residents usually join studies here when local sites are full or not enrolling.
Getting to our office
From downtown Tampa, take I-75 south (via I-4 east or the Selmon Expressway) and stay on I-75 past Punta Gorda. Exit to Burnt Store Road (CR-765) south into Cape Coral, then Pine Island Road east and Chiquita Boulevard S south.
Local information
- Route landmarks: Ybor City, Bayshore Boulevard, Tampa General Hospital and the I-4 and I-75 interchange.
- Hillsborough County health data highlight hypertension, diabetes and asthma as leading chronic conditions, with wide gaps between neighborhoods.
- The drive is about two hours on I-75 southbound; departing outside the 7 to 9 a.m. window makes a noticeable difference.
- Tampa participants are pre-screened by phone or video, and we schedule visits so that consent, labs and the physician exam all happen on one trip. Visits are available in Spanish.
