About this area
Bradenton Beach & Anna Maria Island
Bradenton Beach and Anna Maria Island form a narrow barrier-island community reached by the Cortez and Anna Maria Island bridges, with a year-round core of older residents. Trips off the island are planned carefully, especially in season.
Getting to our office
Take Gulf Drive to Cortez Road (SR-684) across the Cortez Bridge, continue east to US-41 or SR-64, join I-75 south past Punta Gorda, exit to Burnt Store Road (CR-765) south into Cape Coral, then Pine Island Road east and Chiquita Boulevard S south.
Local information
- Island markers: Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach, Pine Avenue in Anna Maria, the Cortez fishing village and the Cortez Bridge.
- Island residents most often ask about heart rhythm and blood-pressure studies, COPD and joint pain, and many manage care without a nearby specialist.
- Budget about one hour and 50 minutes; drawbridge openings and weekend beach traffic can add 20 minutes or more.
- We limit island participants to protocols with widely spaced visits and complete as much of the follow-up as possible by phone.
