About this area
Palmetto
Palmetto is a riverfront city across the Manatee River from Bradenton, with agricultural employers, a substantial Hispanic workforce and a compact downtown. Study participation here is usually built around work schedules.
Getting to our office
From US-41 in Palmetto, cross the Green Bridge or take US-301 to I-75 south, continue past Punta Gorda, exit to Burnt Store Road (CR-765) south into Cape Coral, then Pine Island Road east and Chiquita Boulevard S south.
Local information
- Local markers: Emerson Point Preserve, Sutton Park, the Green Bridge and the US-41 and US-301 split.
- Requests from Palmetto commonly involve type 2 diabetes, hypertension and respiratory symptoms linked to outdoor and agricultural work.
- Allow about one hour and 40 minutes by car; the Green Bridge and US-41 are slower during shift changes in the morning and late afternoon.
- We offer Spanish-language visits, early appointment times for shift workers, and phone screening so travel is only needed once eligibility looks likely.
